Objectives

The Hospital and University Federation - FHU SEPSIS was created by the Assistance Publique - Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP), Inserm, the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (UVSQ), Paris-Saclay University (UPS) and the University of Paris, following the FHU2019 call. The FHU SEPSIS was officially launched on October 6, 2020. It combines academic and industrial researchers who will work together over the next 5 years to develop point-of-care tests for rapid identification of patients with sepsis and for tailored hemodynamic, renal, metabolic and immune interventions.

The project is based on a multidisciplinary approach encompassing clinical and laboratory-based research that brings together a variety of domains, such as infectiology, artificial intelligence, immunology, epidemiology as well as human and social sciences.

The FHU SEPSIS’s ambition is to contribute to:
  • Reduce the health, economic and social burden of sepsis on healthcare systems,
  • Develop and spread lowcost point-of-care tests to identify sepsis cases and enable personalized interventions,
  • Provide research on sepsis a new dynamic through an integrated data warehouse of sepsis phenotypes available, as well as a permanent platform of clinical trials, for any other program of academic and industrial research beyond sepsis.
