Joost Wiersinga

Joost Wiersinga, MD, PhD, MBA, is Professor of Medicine and serves as chair of the Division of Infectious Diseases of Amsterdam UMC. He combines work in the clinic with education and research. At the Center for Experimental Molecular Medicine (CEMM) he focuses on the host response against severe bacterial infections, sepsis pneumonia and COVID-19 with a special interest in the gut microbiome. He is council member of the International Sepsis Forum (ISF) and elected chair of the ESCMID Study Group for Bloodstream Infections, Endocarditis and Sepsis (ESGBIES).
